Magnetic fields at the periphery of UCH ii regions from carbon recombination line observations

چکیده
Several indirect evidences indicate a magnetic origin for the non-thermal width of spectral lines observed toward molecular clouds. In this letter, I suggest that the origin of the non-thermal width of carbon recombination lines (CRLs) observed from photo-dissociation regions (PDRs) near ultra-compact H ii regions is magnetic and that the magnitude of the line width is an estimate of the Alfv́en speed. The magnetic field strengths estimated based on this suggestion compare well with those measured toward molecular clouds with densities similar to PDR densities. I conclude that multi-frequency CRL observations have the potential to form a new tool to determine the field strength near star forming regions. Multi - wavelength carbon recombination line observations with the VLA toward an UCH ii region in W 48 : Physical properties and kinematics of neutral material
Using the Very Large Array (VLA) the C76α and C53α recombination lines (RLs) have been detected toward the ultra-compact H ii region (UCH ii region) G35.20−1.74. We also obtained upper limits to the carbon RLs at 6 cm (C110α & C111α) and 3.6 cm (C92α) wavelengths with the VLA. In addition, continuum images of the W48A complex ( which includes G35.20−1.74 ) are made with The National Radio Astro...
متن کاملThe kinetics of the removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions using magnetic nanoparticles supported on activated carbon
Removal of Cu(II) from aqueous solution supplies is possible through the process of adsorption. One of these processes involves the preparation of magnetic nanoparticles on activated carbon (AC). Adsorbed coppre ions on the surface of Fe3O4-AC are separated from aqueous solutions using external magnetic fields. In the present study, magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized ...
متن کاملDiffuse ” C ii regions in the Galactic Disk
In earlier papers (Roshi & Anantharamaiah 2000, 2001a), we presented extensive surveys (angular resolution – 2◦ × 2◦ & 2◦ × 6′) of radio recombination lines (RRLs) near 327 MHz in the longitude range l = 332◦ → 89◦ using the Ooty Radio Telescope. These surveys have detected carbon lines mostly between l = 358◦→ 20◦ and in a few positions at other longitudes. This paper presents the observed car...
متن کاملVlba Observations of G5.89 0.39: Oh Masers and Magnetic Field Structure
We present VLBA observations of 1667 MHz OH maser emission from the massive star formation region G5.89 0.39. The observations were phase-referenced, allowing the absolute positions of the masers to be obtained. The 1667MHzmasers have radial velocities that span 50 km s 1 but show little evidence of tracing the bipolar molecular outflow, as has been claimed in previous studies. We identify 23 Z...
متن کاملCarbon Recombination Lines from the Galactic Plane at 34 . 5 & 328 MHz
We present results of a search for carbon recombination lines in the Galaxy at 34.5 MHz (C575α) made using the dipole array at Gauribidanur near Bangalore. Observations made towards 32 directions, led to detections of lines in absorption at nine positions. Followup observations at 328 MHz (C272α) using the Ooty Radio Telescope detected these lines in emission. A VLA D-array observation of one o...
